Three Promises for the New Year

A new year is often viewed as the start of new beginnings, new possibilities, and new challenges. This Sunday, Pastor Steve led us through the story of Joseph in Genesis 37. As we start 2026, we start it with a reminder of three promises: that God is good, God is with us, and God is for us.
Joseph's life story is a clear example of these three promises, and we can learn a lot about how God works in the lives of His servants. When God begins a new chapter in our lives, there are 3 phases to the journey. 1) The "Dream" phase, where we consider the possibilities that God has for us, and we anticipate His goodness to us. 2) The "Perseverance" phase, where we face the obstacles that threaten to derail us through people or circumstances. 3) The "Revelation" phase, where we begin to see God's plan come together and His goodness in all our circumstances. We see how He was always with us, and all that He has done and continues to do.
Through the eyes of faith, Joseph realized that what God was doing was far greater than all the injustice, pain, and suffering he had endured. He could let go of all resentment, anger, and unforgiveness and let the goodness of God flow through him.
None of us know what 2026 will hold, but we do know WHO holds our 2026, God who is with us and for us.
