God is Love | 1 John 4:7-12

What’s your favorite love story? A movie, a novel, how your parents or grandparents met, or even your own story? We are naturally drawn to stories like The Notebook, Beauty and the Beast, Romeo and Juliet, Titanic, or the Princess Bride. Why? We all love a good love story because every one of us wants to believe that there is someone who knows us completely, loves us unconditionally, and never leaves us. 

But here’s the problem: As beautiful as those stories are, every human love story eventually falls short.

The question is: Is there a love story that never ends? Is there a love that never fails? The answer is yes, it is the love of God for his people. 

John is writing so that we would know that we have eternal life and that God loves us. John wants us to know what love is, where it comes from and what it does: it originates in God, initiates the response, and annihilates our biggest problem.
