Following Jesus Through the Storm | Matthew 8:18-27

How many of you are amateur meteorologists? It’s amazing how much we love talking and thinking about the weather. We have radar at our disposal and during hurricane season, we can track storms and forecast them by looking at spaghetti models.
During hurricane season, the one thing that can change your entire week is seeing where you live in the Cone of Uncertainty, officially put out by the National Hurricane Center. Why? Because we hate uncertainty. What we want is someone to tell us exactly what’s going to happen.
A lot of us want Jesus to show us the whole map before we take our first step. But Jesus doesn’t give us a step-by-step map. Following Jesus means that we don’t have to know everything about where we're going when we know who we are following.
In Matthew 8:18-27, The disciples will follow Jesus without knowing that following Him is about to lead them directly into a storm. They didn’t know what was coming, but they knew who they were following. Ultimately, the Christian life is following Jesus wherever He leads, trusting Him whatever the storm, and worshiping Him for who He is.
