Courageous Confidence | 1 John 5:13-15

How many of you are risk takers? Some people love risk. They love the adrenaline rush of jumping out of airplanes, investing in volatile stocks, and eating sushi from a gas station. Others are very risk adverse. They drive only in the right lane and won’t buy anything without reading 50 reviews. However, it could be said that most people are willing to take a risk when they are confident about the outcome. We’ll invest if we know it’s a sure thing; we’ll move if we believe it’s the right opportunity; we’ll sacrifice if we believe it’s worth it. Confidence fuels our courage.
Unfortunately, many believers are not living courageously and taking risks for the mission of Jesus because they are not confident. The reason they are not confident is because they are not abiding in Word of God. Confidence is the catalyst for living our lives on mission for Jesus.
In 1 John 5:13-15, John closes his letter by reminding believers that God never intended for His children to live in fear or uncertainty. When you have courageous confidence in your future, you will pray big prayers and make big sacrifices.
