Today, You Will Be in Paradise | Luke 23:39-43
In Luke 23:39–43, we’re taken to Golgotha, where Jesus hangs between two criminals, and their last conversation reveals what really lives in the human heart. One man just wants out of his pain and tries to use Jesus as a quick escape, but the other finally sees himself clearly—he owns his guilt, sees that Jesus is innocent, and simply asks, “Jesus, remember me.” In that moment, every breath costing Him pain, Jesus answers with surprising kindness and certainty: “Today you will be with me in paradise,” showing that what He’s looking for isn’t a polished life, but a desperate, honest trust. This scene invites us in close and gently asks: when life falls apart, and the masks come off, how will we respond to the Man on the middle cross?
On that hill with three crosses, two sinners, and one Savior, Jesus turns a place of shame into a doorway of hope, reminding us it’s not too late for anyone who turns to Him.
